Here’s the deal, folks: drama happens. It doesn’t matter where you go, what you do or who you are. Eventually, drama is going to find you, whether it is in our daily personal lives, at work or wherever else. And when it comes to fedding, the drama is thick and never-ending, especially on Twitter, where anonymity and the ability to hide behind a persona makes people feel that they have carte blanche to act like colossal saucepans because, after all, what reprisal could they possibly get through a monitor?. When I opened HYBRID the first time, one of my main goals was to create an environment for handlers that was as drama-free as possible, where they could focus on the game and have fun and maybe even make friends. Admittedly, I could have done better in that particular goal. And in my second attempt at running HYBRID, that goal still stands.
Hence this little posting. Which I expect EVERYONE to read and reply to, indicating that they have done so. To emphasize how serious I am about this, if you put in an application and within a week of posting I do not see a reply from you on this topic stating that you have read it, I will not allow you to join HYBRID.
If that’s a dealbreaker, I will have to accept that. But I will do it with a smile, knowing it’s another step toward making HYBRID as drama-free as possible.
So without any further ado, here’s how things are gonna go:
Don’t Sit On It
If you have a problem, bring it to me. Immediately. Yesterday. No matter how small or large, no matter how important you feel it may be, no matter what. Period. Letting any sort of problem sit is only gonna let it get worse and we all know this. Whether it’s fed-related or not (but especially if it’s fed-related), bring it here. My door is always open. Getting it settled so you can move forward will make you feel better and allow you to get back to having fun.
There’s Three Sides…
The general rule of situations in my opinion goes like this: there’s what one side says happened, there’s what the other side says happened, and there’s what REALLY happened. When you come to me for mediation, advice or what-have-you, bring some examples. Take some screenshots. If there are others who witnessed it go down, send them to me as well. Send me a recording if you’re so inclined. Proof counts. I’m not going to deal with any situation half-cocked, because that helps no one.
One Strike
HYBRID has a zero tolerance policy for bullshit. If you’re going to bully people, make inflammatory comments and generally be a belligerent piece of shit, then you’re gone. Period. End of story. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. You get one warning. It cannot be emphasized enough just how serious I am about making HYBRID a safe, fun place to be. This goes for the aforementioned actions as well as racism, bigotry, homophobia and any topic of conversation that causes discomfort among those present.
Can’t Win ‘Em All
You would think that this part would be common sense. And you would be wrong. So here goes: this is an angled fed, as you may already know, and that means staff decides who wins and who loses 95% of the time. In the case of some matches/feuds, I may leave that decision in the hands of those participating, but that is the exception, not the rule. If you lose a match, don’t lose your shit. It isn’t the end of the world. If you have a problem with how your wrestler is depicted in matches or segments, look to see if you filled out the Writer’s Notes section of your application… because that is why that’s there. That’s so match writers and staff have an idea of how to portray your character. Just saying something in Discord or the Twitter Group DM isn’t enough. It needs to be there where anyone and everyone can see it. But back to losses: they’re going to happen. They aren’t the end of the world. If you can’t handle losing, then you can’t handle this game. I said what I said.
These People…
I get that some people don’t like some people. And in this game, everyone gets around. Chances are, at some point, folks are gonna be in HYBRID concurrently that do not like one another or don’t want to work together. It is unavoidable. However, if and when that happens, I’m not going to fire someone as a result. What I expect is that, if this is the case, the people in question come to me and tell me their concerns. A doesn’t want to work with B for whatever reason? Then A won’t work with B. It’s that simple. If A prefers Discord, B can interact via the Twitter Group DM. Of course, if one side wants to leave, we will wish them the best. The bottom line here is… concessions are not out of the question, but communication has to happen first.
And that’s that. For now, anyway. Someone or something will prompt me to add more to this list, I’m sure. And when that happens, everyone will know and everyone will be expected to read the additions. When you’ve read this, reply to the topic with “I understand”, and I will make a note of it. Remember: you have one week from applying to read and reply to this. No exceptions. For those who have already applied, you have one week from this being posted to do so.
