The bass line for “Mass Tequila” plays through the sound system as electric blue lights begin to flash in time to the music. A light fog rolls in as the music starts to pick up, and at that moment, Gigi emerges onto the stage. She walks from one side of the stage to the other, saluting the fans at each side before making her way toward the ring. Before she climbs into the ring, she’ll make the rounds, high-fiving the fans at ringside. Then, she ascends the ring steps and enters the ring, climbing one of the turnbuckles to salute the fans once more.
(Note: if it’s a particularly heated rivalry and her opponent is already present, she’ll forgo her usual entrance and just march straight for the ring.)
Gimmick
Just your friendly neighborhood bartender that’s decided it’s time to mix it up somewhere other than behind the bar.
History
Germayne Novalynne Barnett never knew her father, having been born to a single (and extremely overprotective) mother. She had been told that her father had died when Germayne was a baby, and since she would have been too young to remember otherwise, she never questioned it. Growing up, Germayne loved watching wrestling, eventually joining a local youth wrestling team at the age of 10. Two years later, however, Germayne’s mother suddenly pulled her from the team. When Germayne asked her mother why, she would only give the reason that the newly-appointed head coach had pulled her aside and told her that he wasn’t comfortable with girls competing against boys. Again, having been taught to never question her mother, she accepted her fate, taking a break from the sport she loved until her freshman year of high school.
She competed on the varsity wrestling team all four years, catching the attention of several scouts who were quick to offer full athletic scholarships. Her mother had tried to encourage her to attend a university closer to home, but Germayne opted to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, if for nothing else to get out from under her mother’s constant hovering, which was beginning to be a constant point of contention between mother and daughter.
Her four years away at college allowed Germayne to spread her wings like never before. Without her mother breathing down her neck, she was free to live her own life for once. Having previously not been allowed to date, she met a fellow student in her German class, a young man by the name of Grayson Meynard. Their relationship blossomed to the point where they had begun discussing the possibility of marriage. Unfortunately, that relationship would come to an abrupt end when she discovered that they weren’t as exclusive as she had been led to believe. Having been soured against the idea of romance, Germayne threw herself into her studies and her sport, earning a BFA in Graphic Design with a minor in Dance.
After college, she returned to her hometown, where she stayed with her grandmother while she took a bartending course. Upon completion, she quickly found work at a local dive bar. On Karaoke Night, she could be found singing an occasional song during her breaks. The bar was also a popular spot for pro wrestling viewing parties. Realizing that her sport was the only thing in life that brought her any joy – she loved her job, but wrestling was always her dream – she sought to get back to doing what she really loved, while keeping her regular job. Inspired by her dedication, Germayne’s boss put her in contact with a promoter friend of his, a man named Sylas “Sy” Pembroke. Training began immediately, and Germayne finally began to feel like things were finally falling into place for her.
That is, until her grandmother dropped a bomb on her.
As Germayne (or Gigi as her friends and regulars have come to know her) began to gather all of her important papers in preparation to strike out on her own, her grandmother informed her that her father – the man Germayne had believed to be dead for most of her life – was in fact alive; that her mother had been lying to her all these years. That final act of betrayal, and a desire to get away and make a fresh start, was the final push she needed. With her training complete, and enough money saved up to establish herself elsewhere, she has struck out on her own, ready to start the next chapter in her life.

Writer Notes
In the ring, Germayne absolutely DESPISES cutting corners, but in hardcore/no-holds-barred situations, she will make full use of her environment (after all, it’s not cheating if there are literally no rules). When Germayne says she’s new to professional wrestling, she means “NEW,” but she’s a fast learner and always willing to try new things if she thinks it’ll help her improve. “High-risk, high reward” are words she practically lives by, at least when it comes to wrestling. As such, she has no qualms about putting her own body on the line if it means getting the drop (literally) on her opponent.
As far as her agent goes, he only handles her business affairs, and won’t interfere in her matches or accompany her to the ring (unless she asks him, which is a rarity).
Outside the ring, she is naïve, which causes her to be a bit TOO trusting, usually to her detriment. Still, there are two things she considers to be particularly heinous: being lied to and betrayal. In most cases, Germayne is forgiving (again, often to her detriment), but the one thing she NEVER does is forget when and how someone has done her wrong.
Despite that, given her “day job,” she’s generally a very nice person, willing to lend an ear to virtually anyone, and anything said to her in confidence will stay between them. She can, however, tell when you’ve had a bit too much to drink, and if you show up at her bar completely shit-faced, she’ll offer you the “virgin” version of whatever you ask (but at least she’ll be honest about it).
Limitations
I don’t know if this is considered a “limitation” per se, but while I’m a bit rusty in terms of match-writing (which is why I don’t do it unless absolutely necessary), I am somewhat handy with graphics (forum sigs, championship belts, etc.). When in doubt, DM me either here on the boards or on Twitter, and I’ll try to help as best I can.
